Stomping Stamps Routine

From the time the children enter our room we encourage free flow play, both indoors and out, through child led activities. However, to ensure that all children meet their developmental goals we do plan for their activities through adult led and adult initiated activities. This helps us to work on their next steps and track their progress along the way.

We have nursery snack at 10am and 4pm and lunch at 12:30pm

We are a room specifically for 3-5 year olds with a staff ratio of 1 adult to 8 children. There is a maximum of 24 children in the room at any one session.

We offer a variety of sessions ranging from 4 to 9 hour sessions.

Our main focus within this room is developing childrens social and emotion development, encouraging children to problem solve and come up with their own ideas. We role model independance so they are beginning to build on these skills ready for thier transition to primary school. We have excellent links with our local primary schools and ensure each child receives and in depth transition into their new school.

All children will receive 15 hours governement funding the term after they turn 3. We also offer 30 hours funding to working families who meet criteria - please contact us to find out more.

Popping Parcels Routine

Although various activities and resources are on offer at the beginning of each session all of our resources are a child's level and accessible to all children, we encourage the children to extend on their learning by tweaking and adding to the already available resource. We encourage a lot of open ended play using natural resources encouraging the children to add a narrative to their play. Within the room we have a cosy area containing books and puppets, construction, investigation, imagination areas as well as an art and craft table.

Within our Popping Parcels room we ensure each child is invited on a 'nursery trip' before they leave us to attend primary school, trips so far have included a visit to our local pool, Hasty's adventure farm, Walton Pier, The Mercury Theatre in Colchester to watch the Christmas Panto. We have also had visits from The Ambulance service, Fire Service and Essex Police.

Nursery snack is provided at 10am and 4pm and lunch is at 12:30pm.

The Green Room

We are very fortunate to have an additional room within our setting as well as our base rooms of Stomping Stamps and Popping Parcels.

Our 'Green Room' offers the children the opportunity to engage with their peers and key person on a more focussed level, we only take small groups of children at a time in this room. It is perfect for playing board games, focussing on a particular task such as number play or listening and attention skills.

We are also very fortunate to own a sensory den, which contains a light box and a wax pattern projector with an array of sensory resources alongside. We particularly find that our children with additional needs enjoy this area, but all children benefit equally.

We also use this room to hold parent evenings and any open events that we host.
